Let us watch the trends in societies around us such as climate change, economic inequality, political polarization, they indicate certain things for sure. At the same time, we have countervailing trends like tech advancement, global cooperation and social progress which can happen due to good use of internet.
Let us take Prof. Jem Bendall's view on societal changes, he is working on sustainability living for many years and is considered an expert in the world.
Previously he held that
inevitability of collapse due to climate change within our lifetimes, during his paper 'Deep Adaptation: Navigating The Exodus' at 2018
Currently he thinks that
Collapse already underway: He sees collapse not as a single future event, but a gradual process already happening, vulnerable in few areas and not recognizable in few other areas.
He emphasis on adaptation or "Deep Adaptation" framework for facing the reality of collapse with honesty and courage, focusing on building resilience, fostering community and finding meaning in face of uncertainity.
Openness to alternative views: Adapt individual interpretation and response rather than dogmatic pronouncements.
Look at post-doom discussions and not about the doom
Societal collapse is not an overnight event, but a gradual process and is already influencing normal life around the world.
HDI is declining and is a measure of standard of living, it is declining world wide since 2019
Climate change hastens societal collapse
Degradation of arable land and water hastens societal collapse
